Taylor 214E Electro-Acoustic
Taylor’s 214E Grand Auditorium electro-acoustic guitar is a premium example of their dedication to quality reproduction of acoustic instruments. Taylor has for many years been acknowledged as one of the leading brands of acoustic guitars in the industry, and the 214E does nothing to tarnish that reputation.
The top is manufactured from Sitka spruce – a wood renowned for its bright, resonant qualities whilst the sides and rear are made from laminated Indian Rosewood. The neck is crafted from American tropical Mahogany with an Indian Rosewood Fret board and contains 20 frets with inlaid Pearloid dot position markers.
At the top of the guitar you’ll find that the head stock is also made from Laminated Rosewood and the machine heads are die-cast enclosed units that are chrome plated. Meanwhile at the opposite end of the instrument the Indian Rosewood bridge anchors the strings via the traditional nylon slot-in pegs method.
The 214E includes the ES-T electronics package designed by Taylor in conjunction with audio legend Rupert Neve – the inventor of Neve mixing consoles. He was brought in to “voice” the on-board EQ parameters and has configured his world renowned signature EQ settings within the frequencies range that provide a series of EQ sweet-spots for the instrument – depending on the style of music being played.
This is achieved by a combination of dynamic string sensors that sense the vibrations from the surface of the guitar along with the more traditional magnetic pick-ups. On the shoulder of the guitar you will find rotary controls for Volume, Bass and Treble which will help to dynamically re-create the natural acoustic sound of the instrument but in an amplified environment.
