Takamine EG330SC Dreadnought
Takamine are generally renowned for making mid to high end models of acoustic and electro-acoustic guitars and have a credible image for instruments made with high quality materials and components and this is reflected in the price. The EG330SC is a Dreadnought shaped model with a single cut-away, the top is made from solid spruce and the sides and rear are Rosewood. The neck is made from Mahogany whilst the fret board uses Rosewood and has 20 frets with dot inlay position markers.
The Dreadnought body shape stems back to the roots of Bluegrass country music when luthiers were asked to make a large bodied guitar that would effectively be louder than all the rest and could therefore act as a “Driving sound” that would lead all the other musicians.
Takamine’s on-board TK-40 pre-amp circuitry includes 3 band EQ with by-pass and mid-contour controls and also a notch filter to remove feedback frequencies at higher gain levels. The TK-40 also features a guitar tuner with LED Display, a low battery indicator and separate gain control.
The machine heads are die-cast sealed chrome plated units whilst at the other end of the guitar the compensated bridge is crafted from Rosewood. The high gloss finish on the EG330SC is in natural wood and has decorative cream binding around the edge of the body and circular rosettes around the sound hole.
