Ibanez SX72TBC Trans Black Cherry Electro Acoustic Guitar

The Ibanez SX72 electro-acoustic guitar combines AP2 magnetic sound hole pickups for the punch and body of a close miked acoustic, and the definition of a Fishman Sonicore bridge pickup.

This SX72 electro acoustic features an ash top, back and sides configured with a single cutaway to make this instrument the ideal choice for heavy, acoustic-oriented performance.

The Mahogany neck utilises a Rosewood fret board housing 20 frets which have inlaid dot fret markers.At the neck end of the eliptical sound hole sits an Ibanez AP2 magnetic neck pick-up to capture the true depth, tone and resonance of the instruments sound. This is also linked to the on-board Fishman Sonicore under-bridge pick-up and is controlled by the Ibanez AEQ3MX pre-amp.

The Rosewood bridge has a Ibanez Ivorex II nut and compensated saddle along with Advantage tapered bridge pins, the SX72 is presented here in a Trans Black Cherry glsoo finish with Ivory binding around the edge of the body and around the sound hole.

Here's a very attractive looking electro-acoustic designed in the smaller bodied SX shape with an eliptical sound hole and two different types of pick-up. The blend of the two sound sources provides a wide range of sonic textures and helps to achieve what many people call the "sweet-spot".

The Ash body of the SX 72 ensures that the natural sound is bright and resonant with good amounts of sustain and clarity, though the smaller body means that un-amplified it's not quite as loud as say a Dreadnought model, however I have assumed that most people who purchase this will be using it in an amplified environment.

The neck plays very well and is reminiscent of an electric guitar neck - which will undoubtedly please electric guitarists seeking an electro-acoustic option. The AEQ3MX Pre-amp that controls the neck pick up and Fishman transducer has a reasonable amount of equalisation cut and boost and providing a decent amplifier or source is used it should be entirely possible to get a very good acoustic sound from this instrument.
