Description

Gibson Les Paul Std  Wine Red

The Gibson Les Paul standard is part of the iconic Les Paul range and utilises a single cut-away Mahogany body with an arched Maple top and a Mahogany set-neck and Rosewood fret board.

A Les Paul standard spurns a slightly slimmer than usual 60’s type tapered neck with trapezoidal pearloid fret inlays complete with Iveroid binding that covers the ends of the frets. A secondary option on this model is to order the 1950’s style slightly fatter, rounded neck if that is preferred by the user.

This instrument has two pick ups - one each at the neck and bridge positions these are the Burstbucker Pro model with Alnico V magnets, each of them have their own tone and volume controls. The bridge is the standard chrome tune-o-matic type with a stop-bar tailpiece that’s also chrome plated, other hardware includes chrome plated de-luxe Gibson machine heads with nylon green keys.

Both of the nickel plated pick-ups have cream coloured plastic surrounds and on the shoulder of the guitar sits a 3 way pick-up selector switch, the guitar body has a single ply cream binding around the edge. The headstock has 3 machine heads on each side and adorns the Gibson logo along with Les Paul’s embossed signature in gold, there’s also a bell shaped plastic truss rod cover.

The instrument comes complete with a Gibson hard case with the silver “Gibson USA” logo down the side.

This guitar belongs in the hall of fame as one of the most iconic instruments in rock history. Because Mahogany is a high density wood I expected this guitar to be quite heavy when I first picked up the instrument, but was surprised that it was lighter than I had imagined – I am unsure if Gibson have started to carve out hollow acoustic chambers within the body or not but this could perhaps be the reason why.
