Description

Jackson DX10D Electric Guitar Natural

The first D in the title denotes this Jackson DX10D guitar as coming from Jackson’s famous "Dinky" range - so named due to its slightly shrunken Super Stxxt body. Jackson of course are best known for guitars that cater for  Rock and Heavy Metal music and this guitar definitely falls into these categories.

The body is made of Alder, a well known tone wood but not that attractive due to lack of grain pattern, so Jackson apply a highly figured Maple veneer to all see through finishes. The neck is Maple with a scarf joint behind the nut and first frets securing the upside down pointy trade mark headstock. The finger board is Rosewood with a compound radius, upside down Shark tooth inlays and jumbo frets.

A set of good quality die cast tuners and a double Locking JT580 LP tremolo keeps the DX10D's pitch stable and on standby for dive bomb duties. Pickups are Duncan designed units and are controlled via master volume and tone controls plus a three way blade pickup selector switch. All hardware is Chrome plated.

Even with it’s upside down appointments this is one of Jackson’s more conservative designs. The familiar body outline and control layouts take little adjustment. Having said that, another (I do it all the time) quick stroll over to the full length mirror reveals a striking and distinctive modern take on a near sixty year old design icon.

On the strap the DX10D is light and comfortable with all the controls falling nicely to hand. It took a bit of getting used to the upside down tuners but once everything is locked down they become redundant and any minor tweaks can be carried out using the fine tuners on the bridge...

Plugged in, a quick run through the clean sounds available demonstrates the guitars versatility but it’s the overdriven sounds where this guitar excels and let’s face it that’s what it’s designed to do. The compound radius and jumbo frets, common to a range of Jackson models is a winning formula and works well making for a comfortable fast playing area that extends (aided by the deep double cutaways) along the full length of the neck. So, another thumbs up for Jackson's DX10D ...? Definitely! This guitar easily out performs its humble price tag and is built to give many years of hassle free performance, try it now at the Nevada Music Warehouse ...
