Description

Jackson JS30KE Electric Guitar Black

Jackson guitars started life back in 1978. They are best known for guitar shapes that appeal to heavy metal and thrash guitarists. Some body styles clearly draw influence but Jackson has always been prepared to stretch the envelope and take "pointy" guitar shapes to a new level.

The Jackson JS30KE demonstrates this design concept perfectly. This is their entry level Kelly body shape and for a starter guitar it offers a lot of bang for your buck. The sharp angular body is made of Alder, whilst the Maple neck is bolted to the body and sports a set of decent quality die cast tuners.

The fingerboard is Roeswood and carries 24 jumbo frets and dot position markers. The scale length is 25.5” the width at the nut is the ever popular 1 11/16”. Two Jackson CRV2 humbucking pickups provide the sound and are controlled by a master volume and tone and a three way pickup selector. The chrome bridge is fully adjustable for height and intonation.

There’s never been a better time to be a Guitarist and this Jackson model underlines that fact. The design may or may not push your buttons but the quality on display here is amazing compared to the finger bleeding splinter machines that I started out on....

Jackson’s compound radius fret board is more curved at the nut for easier chording. The profile flattens out further up the neck to assist melt down riffing. The pickups are excellent for a guitar at this price point and the string through body design is another quality touch aiding sustain.

On the strap the guitar balances well and plays great straight out of the box. It’s also capable of producing some great clean sounds but the chances are this guitar will spend most of its life being thrashed. Stamp on the distortion and the guitar comes to life churning out the heavy metal sounds it was designed for, just be careful when you’re leaping around the stage that you don’t impale the singer mid solo....
