Epiphone Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar Ebony

The Epiphone Les Paul Studio 6-String Electric Guitar is crafted from a Mahogany Neck, a Mahogany Body and has an Ebony Finish. This instrument provides affordable Les Paul sound with scaled down cosmetics, and is a versatile guitar that easily accomodates a wide range of musical genres from jazzy blues to rock.

The Epiphone Les Paul Studio - presented here with an Ebony finish, has a Mahogany body and a set Mahogany neck with  a Rosewood fretboard. The tapered neck shape is fast and comfortable, whilst the chrome hardware, dot inlays and stunning Ebony finish make this guitar a delight to play. Two hot open-coil hum-buckers, managed by two volume, two tone and a 3 Way Switch control, provide classic raunchy mid-range Les Paul tones and creamy searing solo sounds.

Now that Epiphone have increased the body mass to mirror that of the illustrious Gibson Les Paul the Epiphone Les Paul Studio feels more authentic and let’s not forget more mass usually equates to a bigger fatter sound. The looks of this instrument will ensure it gets lifted from its stand by anyone looking for this style of guitar in this price range. How will it measure up when plugged in?

Fat, thick and meaty? You’d be forgiven for thinking I’m describing my lunch, but these are the words that spring to my mind when I plugged this Les Paul into our test valve amp, and I’m only on the clean setting The bridge pickup has bite without any harshness, whilst the neck unit is plumy and easily pulls off a jazzy vibe. Most of us however are going to go straight into overdrive and you’ll not be disappointed. The guitar produces an authentic big rock crunch sound that most would be happy to use and in a blindfold test would never identify this Epiphones modest price.

Full on distortion lacks a little clarity so you don’t get the note separation found on up market models, but the sound is still impressive with none of the unwanted feedback or squealing that used to plague earlier models. The neck is a meaty handful that provides a comfortable playing experience and being glued into the body contributes a great deal to the resulting tone. Midway through the test I had to go and check the price of this guitar. The parts alone would cost more than the asking price! Once again I’m left scratching my head wondering how Epiphone can deliver a guitar of this quality for so few beer tokens. There’s never been a better time to be a guitarist, try this guitar now at the Nevada Music Warehouse ...
