Squier Affinity Series Strat Electric Guitar in Black
The Fender Squier Affinity Stratocaster is one of the many entry-level guitars manufactured by Squier, their sales strategy seems to be to produce a good quality beginner’s guitar and thereby get the user comfortable with playing Stratocaster guitars.
This is probably done in the hope that once the beginner becomes more proficient on the instrument, they will then upgrade to a more expensive Squier model or perhaps even a full-blown Fender, either way they are “hooked-in” to the Stratocaster format as their preferred model of electric guitar.
The Squier Affinity uses an Agathis wood body which makes the guitar much lighter than a standard Squier strat that tends to use Alder wood for the body. The body is also a few millimetres thinner on the Affinity than on the standard models, however considering this instrument is targeted at the novice or beginner I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing.
The bolt-on neck is Maple with a Rosewood fret-board unless you choose the Sunburst finish in which case the fret-board is also Maple. The Affinity also adorns the large 1960’s style Fender headstock that is rarely used these days, whilst the frets themselves are of medium gauge. The usual 3 single coil pick-ups have been deployed along with a 5 way selector switch with a volume and two tone pots
The bridge has a standard traditional style tremolo system, and each string has its own bridge saddle with two Allen screws per saddle for height adjustment, at the opposite end of the guitar the machine heads are sealed chrome plated units.
