Description

Like its sibling - the Stratocaster guitar, the Fender Telecaster has pretty much crossed all musical boundaries and turned its hand to all musical genres from the resonant twang of country music to the heads down back-beat 12 bar rock of Status Quo stopping at all stations in-between. Rock icons such as Bruce Springsteen through to respected session guys such as Jerry Donahue have made The Fender Telecaster their instruments of choice ….

In 2008 Fender released the latest version of the Telecaster now known as the American Standard Telecaster with some new and innovative features and the present day advances in technology have made the Fender Telecaster an even more appealing choice of guitar. New features include:-

  •  A new bridge with improved bent-steel saddles mounted to a stamped-brass bridge plate for increased resonance and sustain.
  • A thinner finish undercoat that lets the body breathe and improves resonance
  • A new moulded hard shell luxury Fender/SKB case
  • Two new finish options, Blizzard Pearl and Crimson Red Transparent

The American Standard Telecaster still retains all of the other respected characteristics that make it such an iconic instrument like the Alnico magnet single coil pick-ups, hand rolled fret board edges and staggered machine heads for accurate and stable tuning. But just when you thought that this world –renowned instrument had reached its absolute prime …. Things have just got a whole lot better …. Check out the new range of American Standard Telecasters at the Nevada Music Warehouse …

by Gig Stig

I have to admit that I have always admired the Fender Telecaster, it had a rock-music renaissance in the mid 1970’s when I first started to gig with a band and I remember seeing them on Top of the Pops used by Status Quo and many other Punk/New Wave bands of that era such as The Stranglers, Elvis Costello and the Boomtown Rats …

The thing that I loved about them … and still do, is the bright, sharp top end zingy-ness that spikes the mix and brightens up the overall sound. Providing the Telecaster is EQ’d correctly it can handle most things from the metallic snap of Chicago Blues to the sultry melodic riffs on Country rock albums as heard on albums by The Eagles. It was also adopted by many fine Nashville guitarists as the appropriate sound for Country music and stretched as far as the reggae rhythms of The Police where it was used to great effect by Andy Summers by adding Chorus and Compression effects to the characteristic sound.

The new model launched in 2008 at the Winter NAMM trade show in Anaheim Los Angeles has several features to enhance your enjoyment of this fine instrument. The new Telecaster feels very luxurious to the hand and the finish on the guitar is glorious …. Superbly finished frets, bags of natural sustain and an excellent neck all contrives to make the new Telecaster a thing of beauty …. The new model is available in several different colours and with a choice of Rosewood or Maple necks … check out the range now at the Nevada Music Warehouse.
