The SG is a classic rock guitar made popular in the early 1960’s by guitarists such as Pete Townsend and Eric Clapton and later in the 1970’s by Dutch guitar player Thijs Van Leer. This is an incredibly lightweight instrument and is mainly used for rock music although some jazz players have occasionally played the SG - normally using the warm tones of the neck pick-up. It has a certain simplicity and the design is largely unchanged since its conception – a testament to the designers.

This guitar is under-rated by many modern day musicians due to its lack of latter day guitar technology. However, in my humble opinion the SG is actually a lot more versatile than you would imagine, and its simplistic design just means that there are fewer things to go wrong ….

I personally think you’d be doing yourself and injustice if you dismiss this guitar out of hand, and would encourage guitar players to try it before passing judgement.
