The Fender Hot Rod Deluxe is a long established and respected combo guitar amplifier and has now been given a fresh coat of paint after having been released in a limited edition Texas Red with cream chicken head retro knobs. All other aspects of this classic amp are largely unchanged and is has the usual selectable 3 channel options labelled as Normal, Drive & More Drive.
The Hot Rod Deluxe kicks out 40 watts of power into 8 Ohms and as always uses a single 12 inch Eminence 50 watt speaker. It features independent Gain and Master Controls on the drive channel along with a “Bright” switch for adding more top end frequencies. Other options include an FX loop for utilising external effects and on the rear of the chassis you’ll find external jack inputs for linking to other speaker cabinets.
There’s also a few on-board effects in the shape of Reverb and the unit comes with a foot switch for changing between the various channel options. Other top panel controls include Presence, Reverb, Master, Middle, Bass, Treble, Drive Select Switch, Drive, Volume, Bright Switch and the now standard Standby Switch.
The Hot Rod Deluxe weighs in at 20.5Kg and the dimensions are Height: 47.62 cm, Width: 59.69 cm Depth: 26.67 cm.
