Ibanez Jem 20th Anniversary Electric Guitar
Ibanez’s Jem series designed in conjunction with Steve Vai have been a popular model since there conception in 1987, now two decades on the guys at Ibanez have once again teamed up with Mr Vai to produce this 20th anniversary version of the Jem.
This version however is a break from the norm, instead of the original basswood or later alder bodied Jems this little Jem has a hand made acrylic resin body with multi-coloured swirls inside it. As you can imagine this is a very attractive guitar with masses of cool appeal thrown in. The acrylic body is completely see through, but as if that wasn’t cool enough just pull on the tone control, which has a push pull knob, and the whole thing lights up green....!!
This Jem also features completely new pickups, instead of the Evolution series of pickup this Jem features Dimarzio Trans Jem Pickups. The Density of the acrylic body is greater than that of the Alder or Basswood bodies, so to work along side this the trans Jem pickups were designed with greater transient response than that of standard humbuckers.
The neck and bridge pickups have coils tuned to different frequencies and when all this is combined you have a powerful sound with extreme tonal variance. The middle pickup is based on the DiMarzio Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues 2. All Five positions on the 5 way selector switch are also hum-canceling.
