This guitar has used the latest laser beam technology so that it is an exact replication of Clapton’s original instrument, it has the obvious advantage of modern manufacturing and technology procedures over the 1964 model. However the point of the exercise was to re-create the exact feel and character of Clapton’s 1964 ES 335 even down to the artificial use of aging techniques.

So, has it been successful? Well, a colleague of mine who owns a 1964 ES335 sat down to play it and after 5 minutes gave it a resounding thumbs up, he was convinced that in a blind test it would be virtually impossible to tell the new instrument apart from an original 1964 model.

This is another one for the collectors as I really can’t see someone purchasing this at a price in excess of £10K and then regularly gigging with this instrument.

All I can say is this is a true vintage classic recreation, it plays, looks and sounds amazing and would be a welcome addition for a true collector that can afford the price of this iconic instrument.
