Epiphone Les Paul Custom Plus Electric Guitar Trans Black
Here's a relatively new take on the Les Paul Custom - namely the Epiphone Les Paul Custom Plus in an attractive Transparent Black finish. There are a few different fetaures on this instrument that allow it to stand out from the run-of-the -mill Les Paul models.
The first and most obvious difference is that this guitar has 3 hum-bucking pick-ups on board just like the Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty. The pick-ups are Epiphone's Classic Alnico Hum-buckers but with the pick-up covers removed to expose the dual-coils.
There's also a slight variation on the raw materials, the main body of the instrument is crafted from Mahogany and Alder but with a flamed Maple arched cap. The neck is the standard Mahogany set- neck with 22 frets and a Rosewood fret board, inlaid Pearloid block fret markers and bound edges.
The pick-ups are managed via two black tone and two black volume rotary "speed knob" controls and a 3 way toggle switch sits in the traditional Les Paul position at the shoulder of the instrument for pick-up selection purposes. The bridge is the now standard Les Paul tune-o-matic type with the stop bar tail piece and along with the machine heads all hardware is black - which is an unusual but attractive choice on this instrument.
The guitar has a contrasting binding around the outer edge of the body and the black transparent finish was presumably used so that the decorative flamed Maple grain is clearly seen through the paint and varnish.
