The POD X3 Live includes almost every input and output you'll ever need to practice, perform and record, and no stone was left unturned by Line 6 for connectivity. The 1/4" instrument input is for guitar or bass and the XLR microphone input for vocals and more, during rehearsal you can use the stereo headphones output to keep the peace with the neighbours.
However, for live performances you can plug the X3 in front of your amp or directly into the P.A. The stereo FX loop can be used to add in your favorite stompboxes and other effects as well. For those of you lucky enough to own the Line 6 Variax modelling guitar or bass you can connect a Line 6 Variax® guitar via the Variax input on the POD X3 Live and instantly recall POD X3 Live's amp, cab, and effect model settings matched with the perfect electric or acoustic guitar model all by stepping on a single footswitch.
When you're ready to record, use the stereo balanced line outputs or digital S/PDIF output for traditional recording. Or alternatively the new USB 2.0 connection for pro-level multi-channel computer recording. In summary, this is a sophisticated effects unit with a multitude of options for creating sounds, however you'll need to try this unit to be sure that you like the types of distortion and effects on offer. That said, to my ears it does sound pretty darn good and they have been selling like hot cakes at the Nevada Music Warehouse ...
