The Classical guitar - sometimes known as a Spanish guitar - is the oldest configuration of the guitar having been invented several hundred years ago.
Classical guitars differ from the traditional steel strung acoustic model in several ways - most noticeably that they use nylon strings. Additionally the guitar neck is usually flat and is generally wider than a normal acoustic, in most cases the classical guitar is played using the fingers rather than a plectrum or pick, and the formal way to play it is in a seated position with the guitar cradled on the lap.
Distinctive Classical Guitar Tone
Another major difference is the tone of the instrument - heavily influenced by the nylon strings and the finger style technique. It is also perhaps the only style of guitar that has classical pieces of music specifically written to suit this instrument.
Ideal Beginners Guitar
The Classical guitar is often favoured by school children and novices when learning as the nylon strings are generally easier to play than the steel type. Nevada are able to source quarter, half and three quarter sized classical guitars to suit children of most ages and usually stock a selection in-store.
