The Baby Taylor is an accurately scaled ¾ size acoustic guitar and is therefore aimed at children or as a smaller bodied travel guitar for adults. However it has been made to the usual Taylor high specifications and uses luxurious tone woods such as Mahogany, Sitka Spruce and Ebony. It has also become popular as a guitar used for a specific purpose, as the smaller scale suits highly strung tunings and slide techniques as used on Dobros.
The top of this ¾ size Dreadnought model is beautifully crafted from Sitka Spruce whilst the rear and sides use Sapele Wood Laminate. The guitar neck also uses American Tropical Mahogany with a beautiful Ebony fret board and 20 medium frets.
The fret position markers are inlaid Pearloid dots whilst the headstock overlay is Lexan, the bridge is also manufactured from Ebony and has a Tusq compensated bridge saddle. The guitar strings are held in place at the bridge via the traditional grooved bridge pin method, and at the opposite end of the instrument, the machine heads are the enclosed die-cast type finished in chrome.
The cosmetic appearance of this guitar is completed by a tortoise shell scratch plate and a delicate, laser etched, decorative rosette encircling the sound hole for that final touch of class …
