Squier Hello Kitty Acoustic Guitar in Pink

The Hello Kitty Brand of goods was developed from a Japanese cartoon character created in 1974 by the Sanrio Company. Based on one of the cats that Alice kept in the book Through The Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll Hello Kitty has become a globally known brand.

Now Squier have designed an acoustic guitar which holds the Hello Kitty mark, a dreadnought size acoustic with a Basswood top, back and sides. - This guitar is not just something to hang above the mantle piece its entirely playable too....

Features of the Hello Kitty acoustic guitar include a Rosewood bridge, die cast machine heads and a gloss finish. Available in two colours Black or Pink, each model has a different decal, the Black features a Hello Kitty “Collage” design and the Pink model features a “Script” design, the black model has a white scratchplate and the pink has a pink scratchplate.

The Hello Kitty acoustic guitar is doubtlessly designed for the fans of Hello Kitty, although I must admit that the guitar itself does play very well. In style it is very similar to the DG5 guitars made by Fender as part of a starter pack.

The Hello Kitty acoustic is a basic dreadnought shaped acoustic guitar, its adequately finished, well constructed and has a reasonable acoustic sound. However don't expect this guitar to be the Stradivarious of the acoustic guitar world otherwise you'll be dissapointed .....

I'm puzzled to know if this guitar will appeal more to Hello Kitty fans than to actual musicians - although the pink colour may be just the thing for young wannabee girlie rock-stars in the making. I'm tempted to say that this acoustic - although a perfectly good guitar, will probably be more of a fashion accessory than a serious musical instrument ... However, if you are a big fan of Hello Kitty this will make a great addition to your collection, and lets face it it wont be long until Paris Hilton has one....
