Boss PW10 Wah Pedal
From the time I first heard the opening bars of “The theme from Shaft” I was mesmerised with the exciting sound of the wah pedal, there was just something incredible about the way the pedal almost spoke to you.
It was therefore my great delight to come face to face with the PW10 wah pedal from Boss.
The pedal uses modelling technology to emulate the original sounds of some classic wah-wah pedals including the Jen Cry baby (remember that one) and the Vox wah pedal. The other great feature of this type modelling technology is that you don’t get the noise associated with the original analogue components.
Drive Sound Output
This pedal has lots of great sounds including the classic range and some newer style ones. It perfectly copies the Cry baby and also has a bass, vo-wah, mo-wah, voice vowels, advanced and custom wah settings built in. The wah intensity control helps to shape the basic type of wah sound and a built in overdrive effect completes the authenticity.
Compact Design
Although this pedal is a little larger than the standard boss pedals, it still carries on their tradition of compact design. The PW10 is also slightly longer than most wah pedals and has just enough room to house the extra controls that you wouldn’t normally find on a standard wah pedal. The actual pedal area itself is well designed with a metal outer rim and a tough but smooth plastic centre to help with grip.
Nevada review
If wah-wah pedals float your boat then this baby is definitely worth checking out, from 70’s disco funk through to the heavier Jimmy Hendrix type wah effect the PW10 does a brilliant job of emulating the whole range. With the onboard control parameters you can also create your own unique wah sound and all of it will be noise and click free.
If you’re into playing funk music I’d recommend you check out the Boss PW10 ….
