Description

Roland TD12KV Electronic Drumkit Black

Also available in White

Roland’s TD12KV electronic drum kit shares the same sound processor as their flagship TD20K kit whilst excluding some of the TD20's features to make a more affordable option for the TD12.

The kit comprises of the “brain” or central processor unit, a heavy duty stand (all cables are concealed within the tubing to keep things tidy), one 10” snare pad, three 8” tom pads, an 8” kick pad, three 12” cymbal pads (CY-12R/C) and Roland’s unique VH-11 Hi-hats.  However, this is probably an appropriate juncture to tell you that this kit DOES NOT include a kick drum pedal, Hi-hat stand or stool.

All of the TD12's drum pads have duel pad and rim triggering, and feature the high quality mesh heads which have earned Roland the reputation of “the most natural feeling electronic drum kit on the market”. It's also possible to expand the kit by adding extra cymbals or pads.

Professional quality sound module

The TD12 “brain” unit shares many of the same features as the processor on the high-end range TD20 model. Similarities include a large icon-based LCD screen, instrument mixer and sturdy metal construction. You will find over 500 separate drum, cymbal and percussion sounds onboard (and a staggering 171,000 variations of these sounds!)…all of which can be used to create your perfect kit, or to customise one of the 50 preset kits.

The sounds are incredibly realistic and respond just like a real drum would, depending on how hard or fast you play. Every instrument is fully customisable, allowing you to modify almost anything from the virtual shell depth and head tension of  the drum to how many bits of gaffa tape you’d put on the skin to dampen it! The TD12 also allows you to add varying degrees of ambience to the sounds via it’s comprehensive multi-effects and reverb processor. It's also fully MIDI compatible and will integrate seamlessly with any MIDI setup.

 Onboard sequencer

A welcome addition to the TD12 is the onboard sequencer. This allows you to record yourself (up to 20,000 notes) or jam along with one of the 150 preset patterns… and is therefore much more than just a glorified metronome (which, of course, the TD12 also has on-board). Any of the preset loops or instrument sounds can be assigned to any pad for easy triggering, allowing you to integrate them seamlessly into your live performances.

by Gig Stig

If you’ve always wanted a top end Roland V-Drum kit but could never justify selling body organs to afford the cost then this is the kit for you .... All of the best features are here on the TD12, the pads have a really natural feel to them and respond just like real drums, whilst the wealth of CD quality sampled sounds are fantastic and cover a wide range of musical genres…

Other benefits include the small footprint of the kit, which takes up a lot less space when compared to a normal acoustic kit, and this has a further advantage when transporting the component parts around. Parents, girlfriends, wives and neighbours will also appreciate the ability for near-silent rehearsal once the headphones are plugged into the processor unit.

A handy and perhaps slightlly unusual addition is the on-board sequencer that can record performances, and along with the integrated MIDI compatibility it should suit drummers who are busy doing studio work as the recorded performance can be dumped to a hard disk recorder via MIDI.

So, to conclude here are some of the many advantages of the TD12 :-

- Completely natural feel and response to the dual-trigger velocity  sensitive drum pads

- Stunning Digital quality drum samples

- Humdreds of drum samples to choose from, and these can be assigned to any of the pads

- Small footprint kit, easy to assemble and transport

- Headphone input for near-silent rehearsal

- On board sequencer with full MIDI capability
