Roland TD3 Electronic Drum Kit
The TD-3KW has now been upgraded and is subsequently the most affordable electronic drum kit option within the Roland V-Drums family. It now includes the new PDX8 mesh pad and the point here is that the mesh pad feels much more like a real snare drum. The mesh emulates the actual snare wire and this in turn provides a natural and realistic feel to the snare drum, and encourages the user to play the electronic kit exactly as they would an acoustic kit.
The 10" VPad has a very effective mesh head and rim-triggering zone to provide a professional feel more commonly associated with higher-end kits in the Roland range. The pad is multi-zoned - (as are many within the Roland range including the cymbals), this means that the accuracy and amount of velocity (force) that the user plays with, will determine what sound emanates from the kit. A good example of this is that if the pad is hit along the edge then a rimshot sample will be played - just as on a real snare drum.
In addition to the new snare pad, the TD3 drum module is packed with 114 CD quality samples covering a number of musical genres and including a variety of drums and percussion. The user-friendly 'brain' module also has a rhythm coach training facility and built-in ambience effects such as reverb.
Extra Mesh Snare Pad
Now that Roland provides an extra mesh snare pad (PDX8) with the kit, the rubber pad (PD8) that previously served as a snare can be used as a tom. In total, the new TD-3 provides a mesh snare, three toms, one kick, one hi-hat, three cymbal pads, and all relevant drum stand hardware.
