As crazy as it might sound, with some decent outboard equipment, a range of instruments and not forgetting the all important missing ingredient - talent, it is entirely possible to produce a high quality recording from a bedroom. Cubase has too many features to list here, but having personally used it over the last 6 months I can testify that it contains everything you'd need to produce a Hi-Fidelity CD ...
