S-1 Switching
The newest feature to the US standard Jazz-bass is the S-1 Switching System which gives you more tonal options on the bass. The almost invisible switch is on the top of the volume knob, and with one switch you jump between serial and parallel pickup configurations. Once switched to serial the pickups will give you a fatter almost humbucking sound similar to a P-bass
