Squier Bronco Bass in Red

Squier Short Scale Bronco Bass

Every kid has a different dream, some want to be Astronauts, some want to be racing drivers, but every now and then one of them says “ Dad, when I grow up I wanna be a Bass player …” And it is to these chosen few that I present the Squier Bronco short scale bass guitar…

Essentially this is a scaled down version of Fender’s globally famous Precision bass guitar and has been replicated but on a much shorter and smaller scale, The body is made from Agathis wood whilst the neck and fret-board are crafted from Maple, the electrified sound is thanks to a specially modified single coil pick-up and is tonally controlled by a volume and tone pot.

All hardware is chrome plated and this includes the bridge & tailpiece, the machine heads and tone and volume pots. The 19 frets have dot inlays as fret markers and the bass guitar is available in a Red or Black finish

This is an almost perfect scaled down version of the Fender precision bass, the neck and body are obviously diminished in size to suit children between the ages of approximately 8-12 years old. This is undoubtedly the market that Squier is aiming at, and perhaps some people would argue that the bass guitar is slightly easier to master than the full blown six string version.

Either way, this instrument has been well replicated and the quality of the raw materials and components make it a high quality instrument which in turn means that it will be a darned sight easier to learn on ….

I suppose it’s not the first instrument on a parents list that they would like their child to learn, recorders are the usual choice and even when guitars are chosen they tend to be of the classical variety. So to all you parents out there who will be encouraging their off-spring to take up a musical instrument at school, please remember, every band needs a bass player …

The Bronco is well made, has stable tuning and sounds pretty good when plugged into an amp, it’s never going to sound as good as an original Fender bass, but then it’s never going to cost as much as an original Fender bass.

So go on Dad, get your check book out so that little Johnny/Jenny can become the next Paul/Pauline McCartney, you’ll be glad you did it when he/she becomes a multi-millionaire rock star and buys you your own country estate in Buckinghamshire
