Once you've spent your hard earned cash on a new or second hand bass guitar, you'll want to protect your investment by storing or transporting the instrument in a protective case or gig-bag. You may wish to consider the following points before choosing an appropriate bass case:
The relative price of the instrument - this is pretty much self explanatory. Expensive instruments will require high quality cases and in fact most high end bass guitars come with their own case included in the price of the instrument. It therefore follows suit that an entry level instrument is unlikely to be supplied with a case built into the price.
The geography or distance - In other words how far and how often do you intend to lug your beloved instrument in its case? If you're a professional out on tour then obviously a flight case will be required, however a semi-pro bass player gigging around the local area may be perfectly happy with a hard shell case such as a Hiscox model. Conversely a child learning to play at school may only require a padded gig-bag.
Gig bags are the perfect starter point for novices or school children learning to play an instrument. Most gig-bags provide padding to protect your guitar/bass and zip pockets for accessories. Gig bags also have shoulder straps and carrying handles for ease of transportation and the range of Warwick Rock Bags are a good example of this.
Bass guitar stands need to be sturdy yet compact and some models are collapsible so they can be packed into a case or bag to be transported with other accessories. Warwick produce a series called the "Rock Stand" that allows the simultaneous display/storage of several instruments at once.
