Description

Roland Microcube in Black

Roland’s Micro Cube is a two watt guitar amplifier packed with useful features that are ideal for any practicing guitar player. Featuring six COSM (Composite Object Sound Modelling) amp types, four digital effects including phaser and tremolo and separate delay and reverb, this amp is an all in one practice station. The Micro Cube also features a digital tuning fork, mini jack input for cd players and a handy strap to carry it about with.

COSM Amp Types

The Micro Cube features six different COSM amp types. These are digitally modelled sounds of well known amplifier tones available at the turn of a dial. The first of the six is acoustic. This setting gives you the sound of an acoustic guitar when using your electric. Next up is the JC clean setting which recreates the sound of Roland’s famous JC-120 guitar amplifier. The Black Panel setting models the famous Fender Twin Reverb amplifier, while Brit Combo is based on the Vox AC30TB. Classic stack produces a Marshall JMP1987 classic rock tone. The position marked R-fier Stack is modelled on a MESA Boogie Rectifier. The seventh setting on this packed dial enables the simple connection of a microphone.

Automatic Tuning Fork

The Cube features an easy to use tuning fork which produces the note of ‘A’ when pressed, enabling you to tune your guitar to it. The tuner can also be set for half step down tuning as well as whole step down tuning. This amplifier features six different effects. The first four (Chorus, Flanger, Phaser and Tremolo) can be found on a dial labelled EFX. Adjacent to this dial is another labelled Delay/Reverb which provides a further two effects.

This product is also available in both White and Red ...

We like this great little practice amp as it is brimming with extra features. It can be used with the supplied power adaptor or alternatively, fit batteries and go busking! The Micro Cube is certainly worth its weight in gold.

MicroCOSM!, 02 January 2010

I bought this amp as a simple practice amp for my 11 year old daughter but she is in real danger of losing it! The sound quality of this amp is MASSIVELY better than a 2 watt amp has any right being and the volume is not shabby either! The amp selections are outstanding for this size and price and will really give the PODs and VoxJams a worry and it's a working amp! The real icing on the cake though, is the fact that it is mains (lead supplied) or battery powered and as it takes 6 x AA it is genuinely potable. The FX are very easy to selct and use and sound BOSStastic. So if you are looking for an exceptional quality practice amp with professional sounding amp sims and FX, with a decent bit of volume and the ability to busk/travel then this is the thing for you. Perhaps I'll tell her Santa took it back the next time she's naughty.

Roland Micro Cube, 19 July 2009

The Micro cube is an awesome little amplifier. It can run on batteries or with the supplied Mains adapter. Controls on the top are volume, gain and tone, COSM amp selector (I particularly like Brit Cab, Classic Stack and JC clean). EFX (chorus, flanger, phaser or tremolo) and delay or reverb, and a ‘tuning fork’ which will play an A. The guitar input is on the top. Round the back there are 2 aux in jacks (1/8 th inch and ¼ inch) for playing along to MP3s and a ¼ inch headphone jack which doubles as a rec out.

Now the important bit… The micro cube is rated at a paltry 2 watts but sounds a LOT louder and has the quality to match. Do not make the mistake of comparing this amp with tiny practice models from other manufactures as there is no comparison. Okay you might not want to fill a stadium with the sound, but this is plenty loud enough to practice with. I have never taken it over 2/3 volume….and it runs on batteries..so you can take it camping if you want. This is probably the best buy I’ve ever made. It sits on a window ledge and is ready to play whenever I am.
