During the last 40 years amplifier manufacturers have given musicians the choice of separate amplifiers and cabinets or a combination amplifier which is when the speaker(s) and amplifier are built within the same housing or chassis.
Probably the earliest example of this was when British manufacturer VOX Amplification combined two AC 15s and came up with the VOX AC 30 combo amplifier in the early 1960's.
The tradition for combos then continued through the 70s and 80s until even manufacturers who had staunchly fought against this style of amplifier - such as Marshall, climbed aboard the production line and started to offer Marshall Combo amps.
