Description

The next step towards stardom for all the bedroom bass players out there is onto the stage, and obviously your 15 watt practice amplifier is unlikely to be heard over your over enthusiastic drummer.

So - what now ? You'll need to take the next step up and the Marshall’s MB30 is the step you’re looking for. 30 watts will give you the power required for those smaller venues with ease. With similar features to its younger brother the MB15, the 30 has a few added extras as well as even more power.

Firstly let's look at the two completely contrasting channels on the MB 30, the Classic channel uses long admired valve technology for a smooth, deep and rich bass frequency with that soft valve edge to the sound.

By contrast the Modern channel could be described as having a more high energy equalisation with punchy hard edged bass frequencies and bright metallic twang - ideal for up-tempo rockin' tunes.

The MB30 has an optional footswitch capability, which allows you to switch between the two channels with ease. Like the MB15 the 30’s two channels share a 3-band passive EQ, but this time with mid voice control which has 3 modes instead of one.

Once again the Modern channel features a switchable compressor with variable level control, and an emulated jack DI line out. So if you’re ready to take your skills onto the stage with the rest of your band check out this little beauty.

The new Marshall’s MB range covers all basses with great tone and reliability. This amplifier should be enough for those smaller pub venues giving you just enough power to be heard through the mix.

The secret of the MB range's success is the two completely different sounding channels, the "Classic" channel uses valve technology for the legendary deep soulful and soft bottom end punch that will rattle your rib-cage. The "Modern" channel is completely at the other end of the sonic scale and uses much more top-end twang to infuse high energy bass lines into uptempo driving rhythm sections.

Each sound is perfect for its own respective environment and there'll undoubtedly be occasions where you're using both within the same live set - which is why the footswitch is such a handy addition to swap between the two ...

There are many bass players out there using Marshall gear and once you plug into the MB30 you'll understand why.

I could highly recommend the MB30 to any bass player wanting rich and surprisingly punchy bass tones in a very compact package. The two channels are both very useable and the EQ works well to give you a good variety of tonal options. This superb little bass combo is ideal for practice room or home studio use and is an absolute bargain at this price.
